The business unit „Cable Measurement Engineering“ under the brand VisioCablePro® develops and produces measuring devices for the wire and cable industry. In particular, cable measuring devices for measuring geometries on cable insulation and jackets. The product portfolio is supplemented by innovative solutions for cable sample preparation as well as performing various material tests according to standards, e.g. the Hot Set Test.
iiM AG will present its star products: the VCPX5 measuring device and the sample cutters ORC Micro, ORC65 and ORC80.
The VCPX5 is characterized by the very high measurement resolution of up to 2 μm, its easy operation and quick measurement procedure. The preset optical focus and illumination reduce the operator influence and therefore simplify the operation substantially. This measuring device and its suitable measuring software VCPEasy were especially designed for use in laboratories and in production as a quick-test station.
The ORC Micro is sample cutting device for cutting very small samples up to 3.5 mm (0.14“) outer diameter. The ORC65 enables quickly cut, parallel and thin samples with an outer diameter up to 65 mm. With the ORC80 it is possible to cut cable samples from hard materials (PE, XLPE) and sector cables with an outer diameter up to 80mm. These cable samples are optimally prepared for measurements in off-line cable measuring devices, such as the VCPX5.
VCPX5 automatic cable measuring device perfectly fits into the VisioCablePro® portfolio. With a complete measuring range from 0 – 130 mm, a resolution of up to 2 μm as well as a very easy operation without any necessary lens or illumination settings, the device meets the requirements of cable manufacturers from all around the world. Due to the excellent accuracy and repeatability, easy operation as well as the reasonable price, cable manufacturers are able to reduce costs immediately.
With the Cable O-Ring Cutter Micro it is really easy and quick to cut very small samples slices (cable sheath cutter) up to 3.5 mm (0.14“) outer diameter. The samples are optimally prepared for measurements in off-line cable measuring devices.
With the Cable O-Ring Cutter 65 it is really easy and quick to cut sample slices (cable sheath cutter) with an outer diameter from 1 to 65 millimeters (<2.56"). The samples are optimally prepared for measurements in off-line cable measuring devices.

The primary goal of the cable measuring device VCPX5 and the measuring software VCPEasy that goes with it is standard-compliant measurement of the geometries of insulating jackets and cable sheathing in just a few extremely straightforward steps. The diversity of the areas in which cables are used and the resulting abundance of cable variations mean that there are very individual requirements for this measurement method. In combination with the VCPEasy software, the proven VCPX5 can though now be used both in the laboratory and directly in cable production.
The VCPEasy software solution can be used for any procedure for geometric cable measurement.Different operating modes are available depending on customer requirements. Whether the test plan is being read in before the start of the measurement, an externally integrated CAQ system (Aesa CIQ, Advaris etc.) is providing the required test plan or you are using the CAQ system ProCable 3, which was specially developed by iiM AG and contains numerous test plans in its database – VCPEasy offers the right interface.
